Thigh lift is an aesthetic surgery reshaping the thighs. With the thigh lift surgery, excess fat and wrinkled, saggy and loose skin is removed. After the surgery, the thighs and lower extremities with smoother skin and good-looking contours are gained.

Thigh lift surgery is usually bilateral and performed with liposuction of the thigh area. Liposuction and other aesthetic surgeries of other parts of the body can be added to this surgery according to the patient’s health condition.

What is Thigh Lift?

Due to factors such as aging, extreme fluctuations in weight and genetic predisposition, skin elasticity in the thigh area may decrease. In addition, the fat tissue under the skin may decrease or increase. As a result, sagging and deformations in the thighs may occur, making the person look older than they are.

Sagging and deformations in the thighs can cause the area to move away from its ideal appearance. Thigh lift surgery, also known as leg lift surgery, removes excess skin and fat from the inner or outer parts of the thighs. Thigh lift aesthetics is a body contouring procedure. Mostly, people who experience dramatic weight loss after a serious diet or bariatric surgery, but do not see a decrease in excess tissue in the upper part of their legs may prefer thigh lift surgery.

Thigh lift is a plastic surgery procedure performed to remove excess skin and fat from the thighs due to various reasons, thus tightening the thighs and improving the overall appearance. It is an effective solution for patients with dramatic weight loss, as it reduces sagging in the inner and outer thighs.

Thigh lift surgery allows the thighs, which have a saggy and dimpled appearance due to different reasons, to gain a proportional and slim appearance with the rest of the body. On the other hand, thigh lift surgery should not be considered as a weight loss method that can be applied for weight loss. Thigh lift aesthetic surgery can be applied to people who are at or close to their ideal weight but have aesthetic concerns due to the appearance of their thighs.

Which Points Should Be Considered Before Thigh Lift Surgery?

Before the thigh lift aesthetic surgery, the patient is examined in detail and it is determined whether he/she is suitable for thigh lift surgery. If it is decided that the patient is suitable for surgery, the patient is informed in detail about the preoperative, surgical process and postoperative period. Since it may increase the risk of bleeding during and after surgery, the use of blood thinners is suspended for a certain period of time before surgery. Likewise, it is recommended to stop smoking either completely or for a certain period of time due to its negative impact on the healing process.

What is the Recovery Process After Thigh Lift Surgery?

After thigh lift surgery, it is possible to apply bandages and dressings in the application area. In addition, temporary drains may be placed to drain excess blood and fluid collected in the surgical area. In order to have a healthy and fast recovery process, the doctor’s recommendations should be followed exactly. At the same time, the application area should be properly cared for, the medications prescribed by the doctor should be used regularly and the surgeon’s follow-up should not be disrupted.

Temporary swelling, bruising and pain may occur after thigh lift surgery depending on the procedure. During this period, compression garments should be worn, drain care should be performed without interruption if necessary, and care should be taken not to exceed the daily safe activity level specified by the doctor.

For 10 to 14 days following thigh lift surgery, the patient should only perform light physical movements. Activities such as walking, sitting and bending that may cause pressure on the stitched areas should be performed in a controlled manner. In addition, patients should take care not to run or lift heavy weights for the first 8 weeks following thigh lift surgery.

Who Can Have Thigh Lift Surgery?

The situations where thigh lift surgery can be applied are listed below:

-Excess soft tissue in the inner and/or outer thigh area
-The person is at or close to his/her ideal weight
-The person experiences dramatic weight loss after the bariatric surgery procedure
-The thighs should be firmer, better contoured and in harmony with the body contours
Requesting removal of loose and sagging skin on the thighs
-The person does not have a health problem that prevents surgery
A commitment to a healthy diet and a regular exercise program

However, people who meet these conditions are evaluated individually and the decision of suitability for thigh lift aesthetic surgery is made individually for each patient.

How are Thigh Lift Surgeries Performed?

Thigh lift surgery can be performed with different techniques including inner thigh lift, bilateral thigh lift, vertical thigh lift and mini thigh lift. If needed, thigh lift aesthetics can be combined with liposuction procedure. The patient is examined and the technique to be applied is determined according to factors such as needs, expectations, skin characteristics, body structure, degree of sagging, amount of fat in the thigh area and level of deformation.

Inner (medial) thigh lift is the most commonly used method in leg aesthetics. An incision is made in the groin area, excess fat and skin are excised along the inner side of the thigh. Triangular tissue is removed and the skin is given a smooth and tight appearance. The incision starting from the inner side of the thigh is advanced towards the back and ends under the hip fold.

If the sagging skin is not limited to the groin area, but extends from the groin to the legs, vertical incision from the groin to the knee may be preferred. If skin sagging and loosening occurs after aging and dramatic weight loss, but the desired appearance cannot be achieved through diet and exercise, this method is used to eliminate sagging and optimize the overall appearance.

In thigh visualization surgery, the tissue in the problem area is removed and the excess skin is stretched towards the groin. The incision starts in the groin area and extends to the back and buttocks. This procedure also targets excess skin in the waist and buttocks. Accordingly, the fat on the sides of the thighs and buttocks can be removed by liposuction. The excess tissue is then removed, fixed to the hip bone, and the thighs are reshaped along with the buttocks. Since skin elasticity will be less after the operation, care should be taken to control weight.

A mini thigh lift can be performed to reduce sagging in the upper part of the inner thigh. This procedure does not tighten the entire thigh, it only works on the upper 1/3 of the thigh. It can be preferred in patients who do not have a large amount of excess fat and skin, but who aim to shrink in this area. Mini thigh lift is also the most minimal thigh lift aesthetic surgery technique. In vertical thigh lift surgery, where large incisions extending to the knees are made, it is possible to remove a larger amount of skin from larger areas of the thighs.

Thigh lift surgery is preferred to be performed under intravenous sedation or general anesthesia. According to the technique to be used, incisions are made in different areas and of different lengths. In inner thigh stretching, the incision placed in the groin can extend downwards and wrap around the back of the thigh. Excess skin may be removed with an incision extending from the groin to the knee or a minimal incision may be made in the groin area.

To correct the contour of the outer thigh, an incision is needed from the groin to around the buttocks and along the back. After removing excess skin and fat, the incisions are closed with sutures.

Are the Results of Thigh Lift Surgeries Permanent?

Thigh lift surgery is a surgical procedure and provides effective results. However, some loosening of the thighs may occur after surgery due to the continuity of the natural aging process. This process may accelerate due to weight gain and loss. However, it is not possible for the thighs to return to their preoperative state.

Thigh Lift Surgery Prices

Thigh lift surgery prices are determined on a patient-specific basis depending on the degree of the problem to be eliminated, the technique to be used, the scope of the procedure, the expertise of the doctor who will perform the surgery and the price policy of the clinic where the surgery will be performed.
