introduction

Professor Celale Tangul Ozcan, was born in 1969, in Ankara, TURKEY. I have earned her BSN from Gulhane Military Medical Academy School of Nursing, my MSN and PhD in Psychiatric Nursing at Institute of Health Sciences, Gulhane Military Medical Academy, Ankara. I have worked as a staff nurse, a nurse education coordinator, a nurse manager, a researcher and a faculty member in the Turkish Armed Forces since 1991. I have 6-month clinical experience in The Methodist Hospital, the inpatient psychiatric unit between 2005 and 2006. I have been as an observer at the Cognitive Behavioral therapy Center for a one-year internship to learn Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA in the years between 2010 and 2011.

In 2012, I was accepted as assistant professor to the Department of Psychiatric Nursing of GMMA. In 2012, I was awarded as associated professor of Psychiatric Nursing and continued to work at the same department.

I have taught psychiatric-mental health nursing in a baccalaureate program, and a master’s and a doctorate program that prepared clinical specialists in psychiatric- mental health nursing, psychosocial nursing and nursing concepts and theories. I am an author, translator and translation editor to 2 nursing book, 1 communication book, and 2 family consultation books. I am member of Turkish Psychiatric Nurses Association. I’m married and have a daughter and two sons.

I retired in September 2016. I worked at Yeniyüzyıl University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing for a year as head of department from 2017 to 2018. Since March 2018, I have been a part-time lecturer in the Department of Clinical Psychology at Esenyurt University. Now, since July 2020, I am professor at Istanbul Health and Technology University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing.

In addition to my cognitive psychotherapy, family counseling and counseling services, I have been serving as the founder of Meditravelist Health Tourism Training and Consultancy since June 2018.

She has published 30 papers in international and national journals, and has been also serving as an editorial board member.

The Comparison of the empathic skills and tendencies of parents and the family functions for the children with attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and co-occurrence of oppositional defiant disorder.
