It is sometimes possible to insert a temporary prosthesis on the implant immediately after implant placement.

If applied by experienced dentists, dental implants do not pose a significant risk or the risks that may occur can be minimized.

As with all surgical interventions, there may be a risk of infection and therefore a prophylactic antibiotic treatment is given to the patient.

Loss of implant may be seen in smokers and those who overuse their teeth during sleep (bruxism).

As in every surgical procedure, uncontrolled diabetes, chronic renal failure, some heart diseases, recent radiotherapy or chemotherapy applications, haemophilia, multiple sclerosis, syphilis, coagulation disorders, unbalanced physical or mental disorders are the main contraindications.

A temporary or permanent crown or bridge (prosthesis) can be attached to a dental implant. If the implant is stable in the bone and the crown or bridge to be placed on it does not block the other teeth when the patient closes the mouth, it can be placed immediately on the implant. However, due to the increased risk of loss of implant, it is not preferred and it would be better to wait 3 months for the implant to be fully integrated in the bone.

Since the placement of dental implants is performed under local anaesthesia, pain is usually not felt during the procedure. However, in some cases, gingival surgery may be required, and pain may then occur. In this case, anti-inflammatory drugs are given to reduce swelling and pain.
