Good morning to you all out there from us here at Meditravelist in Istanbul, Turkey, well it looks like the sun is coming to visit more and more. Time to catch up on some news.
Bella Thorne shared some explicit pictures of herself on Saturday through twitter. This all happened because as she explained “for the last twenty-four hours I have been threatened with my own nudes”, and that she had decided to share them preemptively because” it’s my decision now you don’t get to take yet another thing from me. I can sleep better knowing I took my power back.
Bella Thorne wrote this on twitter, next to screenshots of text message conversation with the alleged hacker. The hacker had outlined that he had pictures and videos of her.
There are conflicting opinions whether Bella Thorne did in fact, reclaim her power by sharing these private photos under duress and coerced circumstances. Whoopi Goldberg, on the view on Monday morning expressed frustration at the naivete she perceived in Bella Thorne’s shock that this was happening at all.
Whoopi reiterated “if you are famous, I don’t care how old you are. You don’t take nude pictures of yourself, once you take a picture, it goes to the cloud and is available to any hacker who wants it, and if you don’t know that in 2019 that this is the issue, I’m sorry you don’t get to do that”.
Whoopi Goldberg’s comments, even though slammed by many as victim blaming, are very valid. As a society we have been peddled a false sense of security about online interactions. Online privacy remains a particularly difficult concept, it seems, for the younger generations to accept.
But in a world in which nothing is private, and everything can be used against you, forever, we should all think very seriously about how much blame should be placed on individuals, and how much on a system that peddles the big lie of false security.
Disney is re-releasing Avengers Endgame in an effort to beat Avatar box office record. So as the saying goes if Avengers Endgame fails to beat Avatar’s all-time box-office record, it won’t be for lack of trying.
Marvel Studios president, Kevin Feige told numerous publications that Avengers Endgame will be rereleased in theatres with extended footage, footage that did not make it in the initial film, which already runs for a butt numbing three hours and a minute.
The second run of Avengers Endgame will not be available in the Imax format, the spokesman for the company told Variety. Avengers Endgame’s return to the big screen is a likely bid to take down James Cameron’s Avatar, as the biggest film of all year.
Avatar has remained the highest grossing movie ever for nearly a decade, with 4.03 billion in global ticket sales, Avengers Endgame on the other hand amassed 3.97 billion dollars in global ticket sales, which still sees it falling short of the record-breaking Avatar.
It’s unclear if there is an appetite for an Avengers: Endgame rerelease so soon, but that remains to be established.
