Sclerotherapy title image

Index

Sclerotherapy is a non-surgical medical procedure applied to eliminate small varicose veins and spider veins for cosmetic purposes. This procedure involves the injection of a solution which is usually a salt solution, into the lumen of the varicose.

The irritation of the endothelium with this solution causes the veins to collapse and shrinks them. Blood stream is forced to healthier veins. Collapsed veins turn into scar over time, and then are reabsorbed into local tissues and finally they fade. This procedure is not suitable for pregnant women.
